Daily World Preview Story

November 14th, 2009 by admin

Monte’s hometown newspaper, The Daily World, has this preview story this morning:

“A great program, great coaching, a lot of football tradition,” Montesano head coach Terry Jensen said of Meridian. “They are a balanced run-pass team. They run a lot of formations, with shifts and motions. The quarterbacks — cousins Zach and Tait Slesk — are very accurate passers.”

Jensen noted that the key to success against Meridian (8-3) will be to slow down the Slesks and control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Tait Slesk threw for 241 yards on 13-of-27 attempts and one touchdown, while running back John Murphy ran for 96 yards on 17 carries against Port Townsend.

The article also notes that Monte has injury issues of their own, with LB/RB Gabe West questionable for the game.
