2009 Game 4:Â Meridian 35, Lynden Christian 14 (Meeting #1)
The Trojans unleashed Zack Slesk on the Lyncs in the first of two lopsided victories for the Trojans over L.C. in 2009. After holding the Lyncs on downs to start the game, Slesk led the Trojans on an 80+-yard drive–all passes–culminating in a 23-yard strike to Mitchell Tripp. On the Trojans third possession, Zlesk found Bo Norris in the flat off a play-action fake which Norris took down the Trojan sideline 55 yards for the score. Slesk scored the Trojans third touchdown of the half on a 1-yard keep to push the lead to 21-0 at the half.
The offense picked up in where they left off in the third quarter, scoring on its first two possessions: first, a Slesk-to-Tripp pass from 24 yards out on a vintage Slesk scramble, and finally, a 9-yard Slesk run to create a 35-point lead which the Lyncs were unable to overcome. L.C. did tack on two late touchdowns in the 4th quarter, but the game was never in doubt. A balanced Trojan offense produced almost 400 yards and 19 first downs, with Slesk accounting for 325 yards passing and rushing and had a hand in all 5 Trojan scores. The defense held the Lyncs to just 5 of 14 passing and took the ball away once on a Tait Slesk pick.
